START WITH YOUR BUSINESS

Two options. Different priorities.

Consider Quipli if…

  • Heavy equipment or general-tool rentals require a coordinated rental-yard system.
  • Counter sales, dispatch, service and online reservations should share an operational platform.
  • You need to evaluate per-location software with unlimited users and dedicated onboarding.

Consider Rentshelf if…

  • Your customer should choose rental dates on a Shopify product page and complete a Shopify checkout.
  • Your main task is managing physical product quantities, preparation time, pickup and return.
  • You prefer catalog-based app plans and can keep specialist fleet, access or workforce systems separate.

Quipli may be the better fit when the rental yard is the operating center: counter, machines, service and deliveries. Rentshelf is a Shopify alternative for product rental commerce. Compare the entire yard workflow before treating a smaller app subscription as a replacement.

THE DETAILS THAT MATTER

Quipli vs Rentshelf: features & pricing.

Prices are USD. Quipli figures are annual commitments per location; Rentshelf figures are monthly app subscriptions. Shopify, payments and any additional operational tools are separate.

DECISION GUIDE 01

Define the operation behind the equipment listing

The Quipli platform presents rental bookings, inventory, dispatch, maintenance and payments as a connected equipment-rental system. Its stated focus is heavy equipment and general-tool rental. That context matters: a machine may be requested online, prepared in the yard, delivered by a driver and returned with a service requirement.

Rentshelf connects physical rentals to Shopify products and orders. It is relevant when the existing storefront and customer purchase journey should remain in Shopify. Its booking workspace helps with rental handoff, but it should not be described as a documented substitute for Quipli’s entire yard, dispatch or service operation.

Write the daily jobs on separate lines: accept a reservation, take a counter order, allocate a unit, schedule delivery, inspect a return and reconcile payment. Mark which ones must share a single record. This identifies the scope you would actually replace, rather than making the decision on the calendar component alone.

DECISION GUIDE 02

Test usable capacity and the delivery promise together

Quipli’s published workflow includes equipment availability and operational status. In a demonstration, ask to follow a unit that is unavailable for service and then restored. Confirm how the status affects online booking, the counter and a future dispatch. Do not infer that a visible status label handles every transition automatically.

For Rentshelf, configure a rental product with the actual units offered online and use the variant stock instructions for different models. Try overlapping dates, preparation buffers and a last available unit. Test customer-selected delivery or pickup against the operational arrangement you can fulfill.

A delivery choice is not a route schedule or a guarantee that a suitable truck and driver are free. If transport capacity constrains the order, document where approval happens and what the customer is told. A small counter-collection operation may avoid that complexity; a heavy-equipment yard often cannot.

DECISION GUIDE 03

Compare location commitments with the full Shopify stack

Quipli pricing currently lists Core at $6,000 per year per location and Plus at $10,000 per year per location. The plans list unlimited users, and the site invites multi-location operators to discuss pricing. Do not divide the annual figure by twelve and label it a monthly contract.

The Core listing includes storefront, booking, inventory, POS, service and repair, dispatch, payments and accounting capabilities. Plus lists additional capabilities and historical migration from supported ERPs. Confirm the exact migration source and deliverables; a general migration offer is not proof that every attachment or open financial record will be transferred.

Rentshelf’s monthly USD prices are $9.99 Starter and $19.99 Growth, with Shopify subscription and payment costs separate. Starter includes 25 rental products and a 90-day forward calendar; Growth offers unlimited rental products and a 365-day calendar. Add any required yard, accounting or dispatch software before estimating the cost of the Shopify architecture.

DECISION GUIDE 04

Use a controlled transition for active equipment rentals

Choose a period with manageable dispatch and return volume. Before the cutover, reconcile machines currently on rent, future reservations, customer balances, refundable security amounts and service blocks. Assign a staff owner to each exception. A list of products alone cannot explain which machine is already committed to a customer.

Preserve the old transaction and service records while validating the new system. Rentshelf Growth’s product CSV import is not a promise of Quipli booking, dispatch or accounting migration. If existing rentals finish in Quipli, prevent the same units from being offered online without a reliable reconciliation process.

Pilot one counter-collection product through Shopify before changing the wider operation. Review an unavailable date, a changed booking, the amount due and the return outcome. If the pilot creates duplicate dispatch or repair records, stop and revisit the scope. A successful result means the staff can fulfill and close the rental, not merely that a customer can reach checkout.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

A tool shop taking online reservations while a rental yard dispatches machines

Consider two illustrative businesses. The first already uses Shopify and rents a small range of floor sanders for counter collection. The second runs excavators, delivery drivers, repair work and commercial accounts across two locations. Both need date availability, but the second also needs a coordinated yard operation. Run a test that starts with a request and ends with the machine back in service. Do not let a convenient storefront demonstration conceal the dispatch or maintenance decisions that happen afterward.

A THOUGHTFUL SWITCH

Bring your workflow. Check the details.

01

Map your current rentals

Record upcoming bookings, inventory, paid deposits and outstanding returns. Keep a copy of your existing records.

02

Configure one real product

Match pricing, duration, availability and pickup rules. Use a representative item before configuring the whole catalog.

03

Complete a test booking

Review dates, cart, checkout, confirmation and the booking record. Coordinate the storefront cutover so two widgets do not compete.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Your comparison questions, answered.

Who should consider Quipli instead of Rentshelf?

Heavy-equipment and general-tool businesses needing a connected yard system should evaluate Quipli. Rentshelf is a candidate for Shopify product rental commerce, especially when collection and return can be handled through a focused booking workflow.

Is Quipli priced per employee?

The reviewed plans list unlimited users and price per location: Core $6,000 annually and Plus $10,000 annually. Confirm the quote for multiple locations and any implementation requirements before calculating your total commitment.

Does Rentshelf replace equipment dispatch software?

This comparison does not claim that. A rental booking or delivery method does not by itself allocate a vehicle, driver or route. Keep a dispatch process where transport availability is part of the promise to the customer.

Can I keep Shopify with a Quipli rental system?

Ask Quipli to demonstrate the proposed storefront and order architecture. An existing website connection does not establish native Shopify checkout or synchronized Shopify rental stock. Confirm where orders, payments and availability are authoritative.

Can I move all Quipli history through a product CSV?

No automatic historical transfer is established here. Product configuration is different from bookings, customer balances, dispatch tasks and service records. Keep those records accessible and agree a supported transition before retiring the old system.
