Questions we get asked a lot.
Does Rentshelf work with my Shopify theme?
Yes. The rental picker is a Shopify theme app extension, which means any theme that supports app blocks and app embeds (every Online Store 2.0 theme since 2021) can use Rentshelf without editing code. Older vintage themes need a one-line snippet; we help you add it.
Do I need to change my checkout?
No. Rentshelf uses standard Shopify orders. Rental dates and add-ons are passed as line-item properties, so refunds, taxes, shipping apps, fulfilment tools and analytics keep working as normal.
How is pricing calculated?
You set a per-day rate (or a fixed price per rental). The picker multiplies the days the customer chose, adds any selected add-ons, and presents a single total. That total is the Shopify line price — no cart transforms needed.
Can I take a refundable deposit?
Yes. Configure a deposit amount per product. Customers see it on the picker and pay it as part of the order. When the item comes back, you release the hold — or deduct a damage fee first.
Can the same product be sold AND rented?
Yes. Rentshelf only activates rental behaviour for products you explicitly link inside the app. Every other product on your store works as a regular Shopify product.
Do I pay a commission on each booking?
No. Flat monthly pricing regardless of how many bookings you process. Shopify's own transaction fees apply as normal.
