Measure waiting time as well as working time

Suppose preparing one item takes 25 minutes. That does not mean a customer can book it 25 minutes after return. The item may wait two hours behind earlier work, arrive after the preparation team leaves or need a drying period that cannot be compressed. Record the return time, work-start time and ready time for a small sample.

Consider an illustrative Friday batch of eight returns. At 25 minutes of hands-on work each, that is 200 minutes of work before interruptions, inspection exceptions or packing. If one person has only two hours assigned to preparation, a same-afternoon promise for all eight items does not fit the available capacity. Observe both a quiet period and a busy one. An average from a calm Tuesday can fail every weekend. Note the constraints that recur, such as late courier arrivals or one shared preparation station.
